Cheri Lynne (Vice) TalbottJanuary 10, 1947 ~ November 6, 2015 (age 68)
Cheri L Talbott passed away November 6, 2015 at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland Oregon at the age of 68. Cheri was born on January 10, 1947 to Lela Landon Vice and Wilber Vice in Neosho, Missouri. Cheri grew up in Vancouver Washington and graduated from Hudson’s Bay High School in 1965. Shortly after graduating high school, she returned to Kansas where through her cousin she met Robert "Bob" Talbott on a blind date. It didn’t take them long to learn that they were soul mates and got married 6 weeks later. In 1967 they made the decision to put their belongings in their car and moved to the Portland Oregon area where they resided for the next 34 years.
Together they raised two daughters, Angela and Heather, and many dogs. Cheri worked for Businessman's Assurance Company from 1966 to 1972; in 1972 she left there to work from home for Homework Company from 1972 to 1980, which enabled her to be at home and raise her young daughters. In 1980 she went to work for William Earhart Company, Inc. until she retired in 2001. Upon retirement she and Bob purchased a motorhome and traveled for a year. In 2003 they relocated to Umatilla, Oregon where they bought their own home with a beautiful view of the Columbia River, which also enabled them to be closer to their three granddaughters. In December of 2003 Cheri went to work for Good Shepherd Medical Center where she continued to work until she again retired in 2009. Upon retirement she and Bob and their two dachshunds took to the road for three months going across the country by motorhome.
Cheri took pride in being a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. With her family as her top priority she would always be there to lend a helping hand or love and support. She would carry the weight of the world on her shoulders if she felt that would protect her family. Her hobbies included sewing, remodeling and decorating her home, gardening and of course spoiling her beloved pups. Together her and Bob created a beautiful yard that her children referred to as “Paradise” where she often enjoyed taking in her scenic view of the river.
Cheri is survived by her husband Robert "Bob" Talbott of 49 ½ years, her daughter Angela (Gary) Ford, and Heather (Eric) Kesterson, grand-daughters Brittany, Rebecca & Sarah Ford, sister Judy (Gary) Miller, brother Kelly Vice, her pups Oliver and Mac, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Wilber and Lela Vice and her niece Yvette Iacopelli. The love and care that Cheri held for her family will be forever missed, but will be held in their hearts forever.
The family would like to thank the staff of OHSU for their continued efforts in Cheri’s treatment while in their hands, as well genuine concern and care for both Cheri and her family during the difficult time. The family will be hosting a celebration of Cheri’s life at a later date.
